La Punta Sud

Originally built in 1854, this historic building on the southern tip of Sardinia has been meticulously restored, preserving the charm of the old structures by discreetly and tastefully renovating the interior and exterior, using local materials and furnishings, to make it a fine example of Mediterranean minimalist style.

The white minimalist style of the interiors and the essential lines of the outdoor spaces are the backdrop of a number of unique objects from different ages and parts of the world. To those who know how to listen, all objects and materials tell stories of far-away countries and old craftsmanship traditions, as unique as those of the buildings that they now live in.

In this magical atmosphere , breakfast around the pool is enjoyed at tables created from old Turkish carts; a majestic Indian trunk is the perfect place to keep books in the tearoom; in the bathrooms on the ground floor the basins are set into an old Mongolian mortar and the frame of a mirror conceals 42 Indian stamps, used to print textiles. These unique manufactures live side by side with designer objects, such as the Murano red crystal lamps and Louis XIV white leather sofas that are found in the lounge.

Without losing sight of the horizon that can be admired from its windows, every detail inside the buildings is a tribute to the passion for travel.

At the front of the building, overlooking the sea, a 200 m2 raised teak deck features a 14×6 m infinity swimming pool with two Jacuzzis. At both sides of the pool, the elegant white leather seating areas are the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or sip a drink at sunset. At the rear of the building, the 3000 m2 garden has a 12 m fireplace and a spacious lounge area. The central raised area features eight crystal gazebos, 16 m2 each, where guests can dine and enjoy the splendid views.

The surrounding areas

Chia and its surrounding areas will transform your holiday into an unforgettable journey across sea, history and nature where you will discover something new every day. Nature dominates the southern extremity of the island, where the landscape has been designed by the interaction of different natural elements. Granite headlands, impressive sand dunes and lagoons of great natural interest – the habitual resting and nesting spot for the elegant pink flamingos – alternate along the coastline. Only a few kilometres away, in Pula’s hinterland, where the mountings are over a thousand metres high, trekking trails lead across Gutturu Mannu Natural Park, where it is not uncommon to encounter the Sardinian dear or see majestic European white-elms or European yews.

The beaches

Some of the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean are along this stretch of coast: Cala Cipolla, just a short walk from La Punta Sud, is a small bay set in beautiful natural surroundings. Su Giudeu, a long, wide sandy beach characterised by the small islands just off its shore and the choreographic sand dunes covered in junipers. Continuing west along the coast, hidden among the rocks, the well-known Tuerredda is a spectacular stretch of sand between the two headlands.

The golf

Guests of La Punta Sud have access to Is Molas Golf Club (27 holes), only a few minutes away. For over thirty years the course has been a reference point for passionate golfers visiting the island.
One of the most technical and charming courses of the Mediterranean, thanks to its location close to the sea and protected by the mountains, it enjoys its own micro-climate and winter temperatures rarely fall below 15 C.
